No More Trumpets Of Despair

Too long have our ears heard the wailing cries of agony,
Of men and women and children murdered for no reason at all.

It makes no difference what the murderer's name is--
Bullets, bombs, starvation, disease,
Human indifference to human need.
Too long, the trumpets of despair have thundered.
Isn't it about time that we really start to care
About the useless slaughter of human beings, their dignity

plundered,
Whose only crime was to live, to grow, to share.

Yes, trumpets of despair,
Soon your note will end
And the good people of the earth
With all their dignity will force the monsters
To blend among themselves into a nova-like explosion
For it was their seed that they planted
It was their code, but by love's ode--
It was not ours.

A clock of time will toll its seconds,
For a total world, freedom beckons
We'll never have to listen when we finally learn to care--
To the trumpets of total bleak despair.

* (Although these audio files have been heavily compressed, they are still large and will load slowly, even if you have a relatively fast 28.8 modem connection. With an average 2.5k/sec. download rate, a 300k sound file may take up to 2 minutes to load, a 1,200k file anywhere from 5 to 8 minutes.

However, your patience will be rewarded. Piri's intense readings are a true joy to listen to, and give the written word much depth and "flow.")
